Past Exhibits Konoshima Ōkoku – Captivating dedication: Ōkoku-san October 23, 2021〜January 10, 2022 Konoshima Ōkoku (1877–1938) was a leading master of modern Japanese painting. In recent years, Ōkoku's popularity has grown beyond the borders of Japanese-style painting fans, particularly for his animal paintings. This exhibition, co-organized by the Fukuda Museum of Art and the Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan, features over 100 works, including 52 newly discovered works, as well as works exhibited at the Bunten and Teiten exhibitions. Past Exhibits Tigers, Cats and Zodiac Animals January 29, 2022〜April 10, 2022 This exhibition features paintings of tigers by painters active in the 18th century such as Yosa Buson and Maruyama Okyo, and renowned artists in the modern era like Takeuchi Seiho and Ohashi Suiseki, as well as works depicting other zodiac animals. Moreover, as cats are kindred of tigers, the exhibition also includes the works of adorable cats.
Past Exhibits Kyoto’s Bold Masters July 17, 2021〜October 10, 2021 Ito Jakuchu (1716-1800)who has been gaining popularity recently, was born as the eldest son of the vegetable wholesaler Masuya in the Nishikikoji market in Kyoto. In the 18th century when Jakuchu was active, Kyoto was the arena of talented and unique painters such as Yosa Buson (1716-1783), Ike no Taiga (1723-1776), Maruyama Okyo (1733-1795), and Soga Sohaku (1730-1781). They accomplished their own painting styles while interacting and influencing each other. This exhibition demonstrates the works of such painters of the same age as Jakuchu to disclose the enchanting power of their works.

Past Exhibits The Age of Seihō : A Painter Who Depicts the Smell March 1, 2021〜April 11, 2021 Takeuchi Seiho (1864-1942), a genius of Japanese style painting, emerged from Kyoto, the city which has nurtured the traditional culture for more than one thousand years. This exhibition showcases Seiho's popular animal paintings and large-sized landscapes as well as the works of his teacher Kono Bairei and his colleagues who were reputed as "big four," and the works of his students with various individualities.
Past Exhibits Ill-Starred Painters October 24, 2020〜January 11, 2021 Just as Van Goch and Modigliani, many artists can be found in Japan, who changed their tragic fate into the source food for the creation of to create the splendid work. The exhibitions focus on the ill-starred destiny of the artists and take a closer look on the drama behind their works. This is the first joint exhibition of two museums located in Arashiyama - the Fukuda Art Museum and Saga Arashiyama Museum of Arts & Culture.
