Special Offer from Oct. 1: Explore Shunga Across East and West Japan – Shinjuku Kabukicho Shunga Exhibition(WA) x Forms of Love

Thank you for visiting Fukuda Art Museum in Arashiyama, Kyoto.

In conjunction with our current special exhibition, “Forms of Love,” we are pleased to highlight the “Shinjuku Kabukicho Shunga Exhibition (WA)” exhibition, now taking place in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Running from October 3 to November 29, 2026, across the Shinjuku Kabukicho Noh Stage and the host club BOND, the Tokyo exhibition offers a captivating experience. It reunites Kunisada’s famed Shunga trilogy, “San Genji”, for a rare side-by-side comparison of Shunga works by the senior and junior apprentice artists: Kunisada, master of actor prints (*yakusha-e*), and Kuniyoshi, master of warrior prints (*musha-e*).

From priceless hand-painted Shunga—including Chigo Sōshi, Japan’s oldest male-male romance erotic scroll—here in Kyoto, to iconic masterpieces of late-Edo woodblock print Shunga in Tokyo, why not take this opportunity to explore these extraordinary artistic treasures across both East and West?
